The title of this post should have been 'a soggy mess' with a massive rain storm drenching the area last night. It also did some damage to the construction site as the dig doesn't have its drainage in and the foam ICF blocks aren't bonded to the foundation yet.
So, what happens when foam hits water.... it floats. Our back basement wall is now a bit higher than the rest of the build. The reason it's only that wall is that the back wall is where they had to dig down the furthest to remove a layer of clay so all the water naturally goes to the lowest point.
To put things in perspective, according to the Akron-Beacon Journal, the officially recorded 7 inches of rain in downtown Akron just 15mins north qualifies as a 1000-yr storm.
That being said, pumps are being brought in as we speak to pump the water out of the hole, re-straighten the ICF blocks and get it ready for the concrete so the walls are solidly connected to the footers and will never be able to rise again.
